About The Position

The Medical Services Supervisor is responsible for the operation of Community House’s medical team and coordinating associated services in compliance with applicable government regulations, contracts, company policies, and the established policies and procedures of the programs. Associated services include coordinating with the in-house pharmacy, contracted primary care, external medical partners, and ongoing integration of medical services across programs and service lines. This position serves as the primary contact with outside agencies and internal agency divisions to coordinate client care. Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) certification in good standing
  • Three or more years of experience in behavioral health services
  • Experience with medication orders and administration
  • Successfully pass criminal background check before hire date
  • Obtain and maintain valid First Aid/CPR card or certificate within 30 days of hire
  • Hold a valid license for 1 year with clean driving record to use agency vehicles
  • Have legible handwriting and ability to do simple mathematics
  • Able to navigate and comprehend charts in electronic medical record
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Able to perform duties outlined above within reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight, training, supervision, and ongoing reviews for assigned medical staff
  • Function as main point of contact with in-house pharmacy, contracted primary care, external lab partner, and other significant partners
  • Monitor billable and non-billable activity and assist in maintaining enrollment and appropriate service delivery levels per program type and individual client needs
  • Delegate, supervise, and review/sign-off on Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) duties
  • Practice good financial stewardship of agency and contract resources, including how time is being spent, supplies are used, property is being maintained, etc.
  • Monitor spending of Petty Cash and other agency money to ensure accountability and appropriate use
  • Meet identified key performance indicators and metrics for the position as identified for the program, division, and agency
  • Ensure medications are supplied, administered, monitored, and documented appropriately for all clients and residents through trained staff ensuring the seven rights of medication use are followed: right person, right medication, right time, right dose, right route, right reason (including refusal), and right documentation according to agency provided medication training
  • Provide regular supervision, direction, and documentation for assigned staff, including individual meetings, group staff meetings, chart reviews, training requirements, performance issues, etc.
  • Conduct interviews and hire staff in coordination with HR for open positions
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure complete personnel files are maintained per agency, Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and contract requirements
  • Formalize and maintain training materials for specific programs and requirements, including finding efficiencies in current processes related to lab orders, audits, use of electronic medical record, and account creation across platforms
  • Provide Electronic Health Record (EHR) training to new medical team members
  • Maintain productive working relationships with internal department leads to always ensure efficient and seamless coordination of client care and business needs
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and resolution as needed
  • Always maintain client and staff confidentiality
  • Providing or coordinating referrals to basic physical evaluation of clients, such as blood glucose monitoring, blood pressure readings, and other basic health screenings, referring as appropriate or indicated to outside clinics or specialists
  • Overseeing and coordinating medication orders, supplies, refills, injections, administration records, chart reviews, and associated blood draws and lab monitoring
  • Providing and assisting in coordinating medical discharge supplies and documents for clients leaving agency services
  • Working with care team to coordinate medical services for hospital discharge for clients released back to the agency
  • Participating in team and care coordination meetings
  • Providing input as part of resident’s care team on service plan and progress, and collaborating with other providers such as primary care provider, case manager, etc.
  • Maintaining and documenting in client charts and other external systems, etc. following agency, county, state, and federal guidelines
  • Assisting in admission and discharge planning, as appropriate
  • Performing other duties as assigned
