About The Position

A busy, provider‑based medical practice is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to support front‑desk operations. This is an on‑site role in a fast‑paced clinical environment where you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. The ideal candidate is professional, punctual, highly organized, and comfortable handling high patient volume. This position starts as a 6‑month contract with strong potential to convert to a permanent hire.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of medical office experience (patient access, scheduling, front desk, secretary, or clinical support)
  • Strong customer service background
  • Experience working in a high‑volume medical practice
  • Familiarity with insurance verification, eligibility, and pre‑authorization
  • Comfortable handling difficult patient situations
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability are essential

Nice To Haves

  • EPIC experience (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with other EMRs/EHRs
  • OBGYN or specialty‑clinic experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check patients in and out using the practice’s EMR system
  • Collect, confirm, and update demographic and insurance information
  • Obtain, scan, and upload patient documents
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments, including cross‑department scheduling
  • Perform patient registration and ensure accuracy of all entered information
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and clinical staff
  • Answer and triage incoming calls (as trained)
  • Navigate insurance requirements, eligibility, and pre‑authorization processes
