About The Position

The Scribe Tech is responsible for capturing accurate and detailed documentation of the patient visit into the EMR in a timely manner. This role involves assisting the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures, directing patient flow, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations. The Scribe Tech provides unparalleled customer service to patients while managing volume without compromising quality. This position is ideal for those interested in careers as a CNA, MA, EMT, or Paramedic, offering great exposure to the healthcare profession and serving as an excellent resume builder for medical school, PA school, or nursing school.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED; Undergraduate degree a plus.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program and/or phlebotomy certifications a plus, but not required.
  • Friendly and professional with excellent bedside manner.
  • Flexible with full-time work schedule including a weekend day.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with and serve.
  • Team player with strong organizational, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on-site location.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Capturing accurate and detailed documentation of the patient visit into the EMR.
  • Assisting the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures, including phlebotomy, Urine Drug Screens, rapid point of care testing, UA, EKG, and procedure set ups.
  • Ensuring Department of Health (DOH) compliance of site lab and exam rooms.
  • Escorting patients to exam rooms, x-rays, or other facilities on site as needed.
  • Facilitating necessary diagnostic tests and referrals to medical specialists for follow-up care.
  • Communicating with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
  • Helping maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment.
  • Ensuring the site is fully stocked with supplies.
  • Providing compassionate care to patients.
