About The Position

The Medical Scribe is resposible for performing the administrative and clerical duties on a daily basis to facilitate efficient operations in an outpatient clinic setting. Assist the Physician/Provider in providing safe, quality care and customer service to patients. We are seeking a full time Medical Scribe with a Medical Assistant certification for a dynamic role to work with our Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon at both our Bourbonnais and Frankfort locations. Travel between sites is a required part of this position.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certification is required
  • Strong communication and writing skills, including grammatical, spelling and verbal
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Quick and accurate typing speed, excellent computer skills
  • Experience with medical terminology
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of a changing scheduling environment and accommodate the needs of the practice.
  • Possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. Able to interact with computers to enter data or process information.
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to document/record information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients and staff in all levels in the organization. Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
  • Capable of prioritizing and organizing information to achieve a smooth flow of tasks.
  • Ability to interpret and explain an extensive variety of instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to: Patient medical history and physical exam Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including medical assistants and physician assistants Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up
  • Responsible for dictation/faxing/phone calls and other clerical tasks. Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record. Research contact information for referring physicians, coordinate referrals, prepare operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure that all clinical data, lab or other test results, the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record. Alert physician when chart is incomplete.
  • Collect, organize and catalog data for physician quality and other quality improvement efforts and format for submission. Assist in developing and maintaining systems to track patient follow up and compliance.
  • Assisting in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Completing other comparable duties and assignments as directed by the Physician and/or Clinical Manager.
