About the position

The Medical Scribe plays a critical role in supporting providers by accurately transcribing patient encounters into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in real-time. This position ensures high-quality documentation that supports value-based care initiatives, including care coordination, preventive care, and chronic disease management. The role operates under defined guidelines and close supervision, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medical Scribe contributes to administration of care management by ensuring uncompromised patient care by transcribing fast and accurately, as well as performing thorough editing. The Medical Scribe 1 works with Providers and transcription equipment including editing and correcting medical dictation performed by speech recognition software. Performs basic administrative/clerical/operational/customer support/computational tasks. Typically works on routine and patterned assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately transcribe patient encounters into the EMR system in real-time.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation that supports value-based care initiatives.
  • Operate under defined guidelines and close supervision.
  • Maintain accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Contribute to administration of care management.
  • Perform thorough editing of medical dictation.

Requirements

  • Ability to transcribe accurately and maintain a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
  • EMR experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and jargon.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and knowledge of medical record formats.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and meet legal requirements.
