The Medical Screener - Reception Technician is responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the technician assists qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. The technician performs a finger stick to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels. Upon completion of the appropriate training, the technician may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, ensuring that all donor questions are answered timely, accurately, and professionally. The role may also involve registering applicants and transfer donors, answering telephone inquiries, maintaining alertness to donor reactions, and ensuring accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system. The technician must maintain a clean work environment, follow health and safety policies, and may be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
