About The Position

The Medical Screener - Reception Technician is responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. This role involves assisting qualified donors in completing the screening process in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The screening procedures include assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. The technician will also perform finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels. Upon completion of training, the technician may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, explain the screening process, and ensure that all donor questions are answered timely and accurately. The role may also involve registering applicants and transfer donors, answering telephone inquiries, maintaining a clean work environment, and following all health and safety policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Ability to perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety in all actions and maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
