The Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Atlanta is a field‑based scientific expert responsible for engaging HCPs in the Atlanta, Georgia area to advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. The role builds trusted scientific partnerships, gathers actionable medical insights, and executes territory activities aligned with the medical strategy. The MSL helps shape the medical approach and supports the development and commercialization of ViiV’s HIV portfolio. Requirements

  • Advanced clinical or scientific degree (MD, DO, PhD, or Advanced Practice Provider certification).
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in HIV.
  • Experience in stakeholder management.
  • Valid Driver’s License with 40–60% domestic travel.

  • HIV field medical experience in the US.
  • Consistent high performance in Field‑Based Medical Affairs.
  • Strong clinical, medical, and pharmaceutical science background with ability to quickly learn detailed information.
  • Experience evaluating and clearly communicating evidence‑based medicine; strong scientific communication and presentation skills.
  • Leadership experience including business acumen, stakeholder management, and successful project execution.
  • Proven mentoring of MSLs, leading complex field‑based medical initiatives, contributing to cross-functional teams, and supporting strategic planning.

  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Scientific Expertise: Serve as the primary contact for HIV scientific/medical inquiries and support scientific engagement across the territory. Provide advanced clinical and scientific knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with external experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals. Execute strategic engagement plans involving emerging data discussions, clinical trial support, identifying patient‑journey barriers, understanding market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, disease‑state/product education, adverse event reporting, and gathering medical insights throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Clinical Insights: Collect and communicate field insights to inform product development, clinical trial design, and market strategy. Provide feedback on ViiV products and services.
  • Education and Training: Deliver scientific presentations and training for healthcare professionals and internal teams. Support development of scientific and educational materials.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure full compliance with regulatory and company policies. Maintain accurate records of interactions and outcomes.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Role‑model ViiV culture and values; mentor new or less experienced MSLs and lead scientific or strategic projects.
  • Safety Communication: Share safety‑related information with healthcare professionals as directed by Medical Affairs or R&D.
  • Agility and Adaptability: Engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders including experts, HCPs, investigators, societies, advocacy groups, and formulary decision‑makers.
  • Clinical Development Support: Support GSK and Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS), collaborate with Clinical Teams to improve site performance, and provide insights into research interests.
  • National Meetings: Attend national and regional scientific/medical meetings to gather insights on new data relevant to ViiV products and disease areas.
  • Matrix Collaboration: Work cross‑functionally with a One‑ViiV mindset, engaging matrix stakeholders compliantly.
  • Administration: Complete required systems and training tasks (e.g., Veeva CRM updates, email, expense reports, mylearnings) in a timely manner, including customer profiling and CRM accuracy.
