About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Science Liaison for our Oncology Team. The position will provide balanced data to Scientific Experts, Key Decision Makers, and the healthcare community, ultimately enhancing patient care. As a field-based medical professional, the primary responsibility is to engage in non-promotional peer-to-peer communication and provide vital medical and scientific information to Scientific Experts and Key Decision Makers, focusing on cutting-edge scientific exchanges tailored to the professional interests and needs of stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor, PharmD or PhD in a Life Sciences relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or professional in Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance or a Clinical Research Organization, in Puerto Rico, or at least one (1) year of experience as a primary care physician or nurse in oncology-related activities in Puerto Rico.
  • Foundational scientific knowledge, clinical trial methods, implementation, data interpretation, sound scientific and clinical judgment, and an eagerness to continue learning.
  • Ability to present scientific and technical information confidently, fostering trust and credibility.
  • Effective communication skills across various internal and external audiences, including active listening and probing abilities.
  • Effective collaboration skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the relevant therapeutic area (oncology) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in non-promotional, peer-to-peer exchanges of medical and scientific information with Scientific Experts or Key Decision Makers, adhering to local laws, regulations, industry codes, and the Guiding Principles for External Stakeholder-Facing Activities.
  • Gain deep insights into the disease, therapeutic area, healthcare needs, data gaps, and opportunities within the local geography.
  • Represent Medical Affairs at local or regional non-promotional medical events, such as Medical Congresses and Symposia, including collaboration on pre-event scientific information and post-event summaries.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical, scientific, pipeline, or marketed product information from Scientific Experts or Key Decision Makers using appropriate approved scientific materials.
  • Address unsolicited inquiries regarding company research and grant activities by directing Scientific Leaders or Key Decision Makers to the appropriate company resources for grants, sponsored clinical trial involvement, Investigator Study Programs, and outcomes research.
  • Share publicly available Areas of Interest with Scientific Experts reactively and guide them to the website for additional information.
  • Participate in Scientific Advisory Board Meetings or Expert Input Forums in a clearly defined role.
  • Provide medical and scientific support, including written documentation and verbal interactions, for Health Technology Assessments and formulary decisions, following the principles of scientific exchange as delineated in the Guiding Principles for Global Medical Affairs / Oncology Global Medical Affairs External Stakeholder-Facing Activities.
