Position Summary: This posting is for an existing vacancy. In this position the MSL will facilitate and develop the relationship with the medical/scientific community by communicating product related information to investigators and institutions. Provides information on research developments and new concepts in medical treatment, giving perspective to field activities associated with growing existing products and bringing new products to market.

Requirements

  • A RN license, a bachelor’s degree in science/biology, a Pharm D or PhD degree, or the equivalent, and experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare education environment is required.
  • 5 years overall experience with a minimum of 3 years Oncology is required.
  • Strong clinical development experience, preferably covering all phases of clinical development. Knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, National regulatory standards/requirements. Familiarity with Special Assessment Programs, collaborations with Government funded Clinical Research (example: National Cancer Institute Canada is required.
  • Familiarity with hospital formulary and health provider decision making process.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Ability to network and partner with important external customers, including medical thought leaders, academic institutions, large group practices, medical directors and pharmacy directors is required.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally on a reasonably frequent basis (approx. 50-100% of time including some weekend travel).

  • Master’s degree would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and develops the relationship with the medical/scientific community by communicating product related information to investigators and institutions.
  • Provides information on research developments and new concepts in medical treatment, giving perspective to field activities associated with growing existing products and bringing new products to market.
  • Identifies, establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with key clinical investigators and institutions strategic to the effective use of company products.
  • Participates in medical education for healthcare professionals, including formulary committees, through presentations at appropriate venues.
  • Facilitates the identification of medical community training and educational needs for product introduction. Works with the appropriate departments to ensure required education and training are provided.
  • Facilitates participation in Taiho Pharma Canada clinical trial program
  • Increases Taiho's visibility with current and future industry leaders.
  • Identifies clinical research opportunities that are consistent with company objectives.
  • Enhances professional interaction between Taiho Pharma Canada and industry leaders.
  • Key contact for investigators for the initiation of IITs.
  • Provides investigators with technical support for study development.
  • Identifies and communicates key clinical and research topics from external scientific/medical experts to appropriate departments to help shape company research, development, marketing plans and strategies.
  • Maintains scientific/clinical expertise through aggressive education including attendance at relevant conferences, scientific workshops and review of key journals.
  • Familiarity with the Healthcare reimbursement system.
