About The Position

The Medical Scheduler for the Urology Surgery Office in Albany, NY is responsible for assisting all patients that report to the front check-in desk. This role involves greeting patients in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner while interacting with a diverse patient population. The scheduler will utilize the electronic medical record to maintain patient records via the registration process and scan functionality. Responsibilities include updating insurance information, attending appointments, collecting patient co-pays, and performing other duties as assigned at the time of patient check-in for scheduled appointments. The scheduler must be knowledgeable about state and government agencies to provide proper consents for patients who are wards of the state and work with facilities to obtain proper consents from patient proxies. Additionally, the role involves scheduling follow-up appointments and referrals as needed when patients check out, and communicating professionally and timely with all parties, including providers, patients, the clinical care team, and insurance companies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred 2-3 years office experience or one year of related experience in a medical practice.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a high patient volume unit.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to review information and draw appropriate conclusions.
• Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
