About The Position

Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company (GTL) is currently seeking a Medical Review Nurse to join our team! This position is required to work on-site in our Chicagoland (Glenview, IL) office most days. Everyone receives 3 flexible remote days per month and 6 additional Friday PTO days each year! And, we offer half-day Fridays – every Friday! We are seeking a detail‑oriented, analytically strong Registered Nurse (RN preferred) with a solid clinical nursing background and prior insurance experience to join our team as a Medical Claims Reviewer. In this role, you will leverage your clinical expertise to evaluate a wide range of claims, such as Hospital Indemnity, Medicare Supplement, Long‑Term Care, and Accident/Injury, and deliver clear, evidence‑based recommendations. The ideal candidate excels at interpreting medical records, pathology reports, clinical studies, and medical literature, and can translate complex clinical information into concise, accurate guidance. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will frequently collaborate with Claims, Underwriting, Legal, Actuarial, and other internal partners. You will also play a key role in assessing medical necessity, interpreting policy language, and contributing to staff education and training initiatives. Success in this role requires excellent analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a strong understanding of insurance terminology, benefits interpretation, and claims requirements. You must be capable of moving efficiently between processes and projects based on department needs and turnaround expectations. The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment is essential. This position is ideal for a self‑directed nursing professional who enjoys analytical, documentation‑heavy work and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and industry integrity.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Insurance background, with 2-5 years of experience in health and/or life claims, strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and accurately interpret medical records and policy language.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with industry professionals, medical staff, and insureds.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or comparable computer‑based documentation systems.
