In addition, graduate medical education is based on the principle of progressively increasing levels of responsibility in under the supervision of qualified faculty in preparation for board certification and the independent practice of medicine..

Requirements

  • Meet all requirements for postdoctoral training as established by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the component specialty colleges as applicable.
  • Must have successfully passed the COMLEX 1, COMLEX 2 and COMLEX 2PE or USMLE1, USMLE2 (CK) and USMLE2 (CS) standardized osteopathic medical examinations prior to entering Texoma Medical Center's Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS, and PALS Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines must be completed during new hire orientation prior to working in a clinical setting.
  • Analytical ability and clinical knowledge required to evaluate the condition of the patient based on data from the medical record / discussions with patient / evaluation of patient, to develop patient care plans and initiate or change orders based on changing patient condition and/or a physician approved protocol.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
