A Medical Research Specialist position is available at the Brain Institute of Tulane University to work on the newly funded NIH Project Program Grant (P01) "Estrogens, Cardiometabolic Health, and Female Cognitive Aging". This position will support the Cardiometabolic Core at the Tulane School of Medicine as well as the Uptown Campus. The broad goal of the research is to determine the impact of cardiometabolic status on the ability of exogenously administered estrogens to benefit the brain and cognition in an aging female rodent model. The research is at the intersection of neuroscience, cardiometabolic function, and women's health. Duties include rodent handling, procedures, and surgeries including measurement of blood pressure, blood glucose, glucose tolerance tests, and body composition; assuring adherence to IACUC protocols; scheduling of core services between multiple laboratories; data organization and analysis; laboratory management including maintenance of inventory, records, and equipment; and other duties as assigned. • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
