About The Position

The Medical Records Clerk plays a crucial role in managing patient medical records, ensuring their accuracy and accessibility. This position involves creating new records, retrieving existing ones, and maintaining patient files while collaborating with clinical and non-clinical staff to promote patient health and well-being.

Requirements

  • Three years' experience in office work including clerical duties such as filing and verifying medical records.
  • Knowledge of medical records analyzing and processing techniques and standards.
  • Knowledge of medical records guidelines and regulations.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in gathering necessary information for completion of medical records.
  • Responds to requests for medical records from patients and/or other medical providers and processes letters and reports in the patient EHR.
  • Assists in keeping all medical reports filed.
  • Assists in checking each chart for contents, completion and documentation.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of problems or issues and monitors supplies needed.
  • Assists in the process of training managers and troubleshoots any questions related to DataFile.
  • Assists in the process of obtaining imaging reports.
  • Oversees and monitors fax folders at each Carevide Site.
  • Oversees reports on Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) program.
  • Manages NextGen Task Inbox.
  • Monitors the retention and purging of charts monthly.
  • Helps with New Hire Orientation.
  • Related duties as assigned.
