About The Position

In this role at Cardiac Study Center/Pulse Heart Institute, our Medical Records Specialist personnel are crucial in managing and maintaining patient healthcare information. They are responsible for collecting, scanning, and maintaining all personal healthcare information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system - EPIC. This position ensures that patient records are accurately documented and appropriately disseminated, contributing to the seamless operation of our outpatient cardiology services. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1 year of experience in healthcare & 1 year of experience with EPIC (EMR).
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails; Write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients and other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to identify and problem-solve.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, scan, and maintain patient healthcare information in the EMR system.
  • Distribute incoming requests for personal healthcare information (PHI) and ensure proper documentation in the EHR.
  • Manage and organize incoming mail and faxes and distribute them appropriately.
  • Process requests for medical records and ensure they are authorized and logged accurately.
  • Research and prepare records for upcoming patient visits.
  • Answer and manage phone calls to the Medical Records department professionally.
  • Process forms and letter requests under provider direction, ensuring they are properly documented.
  • Review and organize requests for chart reviews from outside entities.
