The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that medical records are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. He/She also ensures that information contained in the record is complete, accurate and only available to authorized personnel. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Oversees the daily operations of the Medical Records Department. Provides ICD-9/10 and CPT codes for all diagnoses and procedures in the medical record. Abstracting, analyzing, auditing, and coding of all medical records in a timely manner. Oversees the release of medical record information, archiving/storage of medical records, and the transcription/dictation processing. Collects and analyzes data for quality improvement. Completes quarterly performance improvement reports in a timely manner. Suggests changes to Medical Record policies and procedures. Functions as a member on assigned committees. Works with Medical Staffing Coordinator on mass mailings and filing projects. Works closely with nursing, social work, and finance to ensure PPS compliance and unit profitability.
