About The Position

The Eureka Community Health Center (ECHC) is committed to serving its community in the heart of the Redwoods by removing barriers to healthcare access. The Medical Records Clerk prepares medical records information and maintains appropriate patient records. Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information to patients, providers and other staff.
  • Ability to learn and work with new computer programs.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Hmong speaker (who successfully passes a language exam)
  • Spanish speaker (who successfully passes a language exam)

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient confidentiality and chart security; complies with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs data entry, information management and maintains data integrity.
  • Reviews all incoming documents.
  • Scans and indexes documents to EMR
  • Photocopies and prints requested records.
  • Maintains familiarity with Medical Records policies.
  • Assists with referral follow-up.
  • Reports duplicate EMR accounts.
  • Manages dictation tapes.
  • Pulls charts from file; prepares for use.
  • Returns charts to file after appropriate review has been conducted.
  • Improves/maintains/purges paper charts.
  • Adheres to ODCHC’s attendance policy.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
