About The Position

Medical Records Clerk Location: Hybrid 1: This role requires associates to be in-office 1 day per week in our Atlanta, Georgia or Norfolk, VA office, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered. Please note that per our policy on hybrid/virtual/ work, candidates not within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered for employment, unless an accommodation is granted as required by law Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm EST. The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining patient files, responds to requests for medical records and performs clerical activities in support of the medical records department.

Requirements

  • Requires a HS Diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year related experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with claims and document management systems
  • Experience with medical record tracking tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and record types

Responsibilities

  • Protect the security and integrity of medical records to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained in compliance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations
  • Maintains patient files and retrieves files for scheduled appointments
  • Responds to requests for medical records; processes letters and report
  • Review records for accuracy and completeness (not clinical decision-making), ensuring documentation aligns with what was requested
  • Index, label, and upload records into internal systems for use by investigators, auditors, or clinical reviewers
