About The Position

The purpose of the Medical Records Clerk is to maintain patient medical records, following company policies and HIPAA guidelines. This position works in a medical office setting but has no patient contact. It also works in close proximity to medical personnel as well as other medical records clerks.

  • Must be able to complete assignments with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to understand and apply policies and procedures.
  • Must possess strong computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Education: High school or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience: 6-12 Month (Medical Records).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of medical records.
  • Pull provider schedules daily, checking patient charts for current and accurate information.
  • Request, collect, and scan required patient paperwork prior to patient appointments.
  • Scans incoming paperwork according to providers assigned.
  • Email provider team each day prior to 2pm with notification of outstanding reports including no shows, reschedules for scan, bx, etc.
  • Update OncoEMR database when needed.
  • Scan information such as progress notes, labs, pathology, imaging and correspondence into patient charts from hard copy charts received from storage.
  • Release information to requesting parties following established medical records policy and procedures.
  • Fax physicians orders, send records for outgoing referrals, answer incoming departmental phone calls, handle all in house request for records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
