About The Position

Pembroke Hospital is a 120-bed acute care, inpatient behavioral health facility located south of Boston, in Pembroke, MA. Situated on 26 acres, we offer inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment to teens, adults and older adults, and our services are designed to assess, stabilize, and treat patients by addressing their primary symptoms and problems. We are seeking a Medical Records Clerk to join our team. Successful candidate will process requests for release of medical record information, assuring the confidentiality of medical records; process requests for forms and medical records from patient unit and support the Medical Record Department by performing various clerical functions and assuring smooth functioning of daily departmental operations. This is a full time, 32 hour per week position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of clerical experience required, preferably in a medical or healthcare environment.
  • Must be able to lift 10 - 15 pounds and push cart over uneven ground to and from storage facility on the property.
  • Must be able to type 30 words per minute and compose simple correspondence using MS Word.
  • Communicates with professional level (doctors, lawyers), patients, family members and co-workers in spoken and written word.
  • Fast paced, busy environment where multi-tasking and deadlines occur with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing charts for patient discharge process.
  • Setting up medical records for newly admitted patients.
  • Facilitating completion of required documents in patient record.
  • Following established guidelines for handling patient legal status issues and court documents.
  • Maintaining sufficient amounts of stock in accordance with departmental needs.
