The Medical Records/Billing and Coding Specialist at Time For Change is responsible for ensuring accurate medical billing, coding, and reimbursement for healthcare services provided to patients. This role involves working closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to process claims and resolve billing issues, while also managing student and medical records in accordance with school regulations.

  • Assign accurate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and other payers for reimbursement.
  • Monitor and track the status of claims to ensure timely payment.
  • Generate and send patient invoices for any outstanding balances not covered by insurance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing and coding records in compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and insurance companies to ensure seamless billing processes.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage details for patients before services are provided.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Billing, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
  • Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies and medical reimbursement practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
