The Medical Record File Clerk is responsible for organizing and maintaining medical records within a medical office setting. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all medical records while assisting with data entry and electronic health record management.

  • Organize and maintain medical records in a medical office setting
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all medical records
  • Retrieve and file medical records as needed for patient appointments and requests
  • Prepare and scan documents into electronic health record systems
  • Assist with data entry and updating patient information in the electronic health record system
  • Respond to requests for medical records from healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical record documentation
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
