Requirements

  • High school graduate; vocational education preferred.
  • Experience in a medical ambulatory setting.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within 3 months of employment and maintained.
  • Proficient in personal computer use with strong typing skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, verify, update, and scan patient information while providing support services to patients and medical staff.
  • Verify patient's current insurance coverage through insurance websites.
  • Collect and post co-pays and past due balances, completing necessary forms and obtaining signatures as needed.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications as required.
  • Manage referrals through EMR (Electronic Medical Records).
  • Follow incentive guidelines to help the practice meet various incentive program goals, including Meaningful Use and Patient Centered Medical Home.
  • Perform daily banking through Virtual Merchant and FRMC cashiers.
  • Prepare a daily financial spreadsheet for the practice.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete information submission to the Central Billing Office.
  • Use collection management reports to keep accounts receivable current.
  • Identify and report potential threats to privacy regarding Red Flag Identity theft patterns.
  • Request, locate, send, and receive patient medical records according to guidelines.
  • Maintain medical appointments for patients.
  • Answer phones pleasantly, screening calls according to clinic guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly waiting area, including patient message boards and reading materials.
  • Organize and maintain an inventory system to ensure adequate supply levels with a focus on patient care and cost containment.
