About The Position

Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Medical Receptionist for its Internal Medicine Clinic for a Full-time day position. The Medical Receptionist is primarily responsible for performing reception, clerical, registration, and medical record duties, serving as the focal communication source for the Internal Medicine Clinic under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager. This role involves working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, medical, and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional ambulatory patient care delivery. The position is Monday-Friday, from 8:30am-4:00pm. Nashville General Hospital (NGH) is Nashville’s original community-based hospital, Joint Commission accredited, providing a wide range of services from emergency and acute care to ancillary and ambulatory services. NGH is committed to serving the healthcare needs of Nashville and Davidson County, including the underserved, while also providing care to all segments of the community.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical receptionist or administrative role

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Verify patient information and update records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Manage appointment schedules and coordinate patient flow efficiently.
  • Handle phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
  • Process insurance verifications, collect copayments, and handle billing inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records and appointment logs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and clinic policies.
  • Address patient concerns and complaints promptly and courteously.
  • Provide information and assistance regarding clinic services, procedures, and policies.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers, nurses, and other administrative staff to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
