About The Position

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full-time Medical Receptionist for a practice located in the Pleasant Hills area of Pittsburgh (140 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236). The ideal candidate will have a medical terminology and medical office background, but willing to interview any candidate with strong front office experience. This position will be responsible for phone work, appointment scheduling, checking patients in/out, and processing insurance authorizations, among other patient-centered responsibilities needed at this very busy office. This position is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position. Schedule is M-F Daylight hours. This position is also eligible for a $500 Sign-On Bonus, payable with $250 after a successful completion of 90 days of employment, and $250 payable after one year of successful employment. General Overview of the Medical Receptionist Position: The Medical Receptionist serves as the initial person to greet, instruct and direct all persons visiting or calling the medical practice utilizing skills of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum six (6) month medical front office experience. Knowledge of the healthcare field and medical terminology is a must

Responsibilities

  • Greet Patients that arrive according to the established guidelines of the office
  • Check-in patients, verify and update all information in electronic medical system and collect co-payments
  • Check-out patients, scheduling necessary appointments
  • Maintain computer scheduling in accordance with office protocol
  • Answer telephones, screen calls, take messages and provide information in accordance with established protocol
  • Collection of payments and proper cash reconciliation
  • Provide clerical support as needed
  • Screen visitors and respond to routine requests for information
  • Closeout procedures, gathering encounter forms, processing daily activities of coding, batching, billing and hospital visits
  • Other patient-driven responsibilities including taking vitals and Flu/Covid swabs
