About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and professional Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team for around 2-3 months. The successful candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks essential to the smooth operation of the medical practice. This role requires a strong understanding of medical office procedures, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient in medical billing and coding, and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is required
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing proficiency
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle insurance verification processes efficiently and accurately
  • Previous clinic or hospital experience required

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out processes, ensuring efficient patient flow
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification, and handle prior authorizations
  • Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Manage patient records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
  • Collect payments, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with professionalism
  • Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and Medicare requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Answer multi-line phone systems courteously while providing accurate information regarding appointments and services
  • Assist with filing, data entry, and general clerical duties to support clinic operations
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers on care plans and documentation review to ensure seamless patient care
