This role involves welcoming patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries, and optimizing patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by efficiently scheduling appointments. The receptionist is responsible for keeping patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patient arrivals, reviewing service delivery, and reminding providers of any delays. They comfort patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions, and maintaining the reception area. Key duties also include ensuring the availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records, maintaining patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information, and managing revenue by recording financial information, collecting patient charges, controlling credit, and handling third-party claims. The position also requires maintaining business office inventory and equipment, responding to patient emergencies, protecting patient confidentiality, and adhering to operational policies and procedures. The Medical Receptionist contributes to the team effort and must be flexible to travel and assist at other locations based on business needs and management direction.
