About The Position

A Patient Service Specialist will play a very key role in the success of the facility and the patient’s overall experience. Strict adherence to organizational Protocols and Values is a must. A Patient Service Specialist will work in a fast-paced and exciting environment and apply their skills in a highly visible and critical role. GEMD provides non-hospital-based emergency care in a hyper-efficient delivery of Emergency Medicine Specialty Services combined with an outpatient facility efficiently providing high quality care that can yield lower ER visits, lower hospital admissions, and create savings. Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must successfully pass a Level 2 background screen and drug test.
• Able to perform the duties expected for an active role in a busy office environment (standing, walking, teaching, public speaking, pulling, pushing, lifting, etc.).
• Ability to use all necessary office equipment (faxes, copiers, computers, telephones, etc.).
• Able to stand and work up to 12-hours in a day.
• Legibly write English, clearly speak English and proficiently read English.

Nice To Haves

• Active BLS certification is strongly preferred.
• Previous patient services experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Entering new patients into the patient database.
• Verifying insurance.
• Getting authorization from insurance companies.
• Putting together patient charts.
• Scheduling patient appointments.
• Collecting copays and contracted rates from patients.
• Coordinating admissions.
• Auditing charts for completeness and obtaining any missing information from the clinical team.
• Follow the information security policies and management system, contributing to their effectiveness, and actively reporting on their performance.
