This role serves as the healthcare access representative, utilizing positive public relations skills for scheduling patient visits and managing physician schedules. The receptionist is responsible for coordinating clinic services, maximizing resources to meet patient and customer demands, and providing telephone, reception, clerical, and scheduling services in an outpatient clinic setting. Key aspects include managing patient flow, ensuring accurate completion of forms, greeting patients, verifying demographics and insurance, coordinating physician releases, and adhering to HIPAA guidelines. The position also involves financial responsibilities such as collecting co-payments and outstanding balances, informing patients about financial assistance, and understanding relevant state and federal collection laws. Maintaining patient demographics in the computer system, organizing medical records, and handling charge tickets are also part of the role. The receptionist will coordinate patient and non-patient inquiries, act as a patient advocate with professional telephone etiquette, maintain the lobby and work area, adhere to safety procedures, and assist with supply inventory and general clerical/secretarial functions.
