About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Receptionist-Admissions Clerk to join our team! JOB SUMMARY: Arrange for the efficient and orderly admission of outpatient testing or procedures. Ensures that the patient’s information is collected, entered in the computer system accurately, and that all patients are aware of policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer. Distributes appropriate information to all ancillary departments. Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions. Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) or higher.
  • One to three month’s related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively, before groups of customers and or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Books, coordinates and reschedules patient appointments. Relays messages to staff and physicians as needed.
  • Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and professional manner. Obtains proper signatures as necessary. Verifies necessary information to get patient properly registered including phone number, address and insurance information.
  • Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, coworkers, and physicians. Maintains a good working relationship within the departments and with other departments.
  • Receives patient payments or co-payments as required. Posts transactions appropriately to system. Counts till drawer and verifies correct amount at the beginning and ending of every shift.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  • Responsible for knowing policies and being familiar with services that are available.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
  • Interacts professionally and treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
  • Participates in the educational programs, completes annual educational requirements, and attends in-service meetings as required.
  • Attends at least 75% of staff meetings annually.
  • Must maintain a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Must wear appropriate clothing acceding to dress code. Wears identification while on duty. Uses computerized punch time system properly.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned by management.
  • The employee is required to comply with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
