About The Position

The Medical Receptionist at Florida Medical Clinic is responsible for managing all front office processes within the Urology department. This role includes tasks such as insurance verification, scheduling appointments, and assisting with medication refills. The position requires strong customer service skills and the ability to travel between the Tampa and Watergrass (Wesley Chapel) offices as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of medical receptionist experience
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Basic computer proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Prepares e-chart prior to patient visits
  • Prints necessary forms for patients or providers
  • Verifies eligibility of insurance
  • Ensures referrals are present if needed
  • Assists traffic at front window and completes check-in process
  • Manages sign-in sheets
  • Schedules appointments and takes messages
  • Assists with medication refill requests
  • Handles customer requests or needs
  • Monitors the lobby for cleanliness and patients in distress
  • Logs diagnostic films from outside facilities
  • Completes patient check-in processes
  • Distributes and collects new patient forms
  • Verifies HIPAA and Privacy signatures are obtained
  • Confirms photo ID and insurance cards are scanned into Intergy
  • Obtains patient signatures on necessary forms
  • Updates patient demographics as needed
  • Records 'no show' appointments in the system
  • Collects and processes payments due
  • Balances journal and locks it
  • Secures deposit and imprest funds
  • Assists patients and providers at the conclusion of visits
  • Schedules inside and outside appointments for testing and consults
  • Enters recalls as needed
  • Pulls charges from pending status and reviews for accuracy
  • Ensures modifiers are in place as appropriate
  • Attaches appropriate insurances to each charge
  • Posts charges and prints next day appointment schedules
  • Reviews and answers tasks daily
  • Works the unresolved encounters report weekly
  • Maintains an organized and clean work area
  • Participates in maintenance of front office supplies
