About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This role is responsible for supporting physicians during patient examinations, performing clinical back-office functions, and ensuring patients receive a positive and efficient experience. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of clinical procedures, insurance workflows (especially HMOs), and has the ability to build trusting relationships with patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting preferred.
  • Completion of a medical assistant training program or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with Athena EMR, CPT, and ICD-10 codes strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with typing and computer systems required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient triage and assessments accurately and efficiently.
  • Obtain and record vital signs as needed.
  • Carry out diagnostic and therapeutic measures as prescribed.
  • Assist physicians during clinical procedures.
  • Provide clear and supportive patient education.
  • Manage follow-up communications regarding test results and care instructions.
  • Administer medications as ordered, maintaining proper documentation.
  • Coordinate scheduling and pre-certification for physician-ordered testing (Stress, Cath, CT, MRI, PET, etc.).
  • Maintain and organize patient charts and physician dictation.
  • Respond to patient messages and conduct follow-up calls as directed.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and patient-focused clinical environment.
  • Support laboratory functions as needed.
  • Manage medical supply inventory and place orders as appropriate.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned in support of clinical operations.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage patient flow throughout the day.
  • Check patients in and out, process copays, and handle balance dues with accuracy and care.
  • Keep things organized behind the scenes to help the whole office run smoothly.
