About The Position

Join our vibrant team as a Medical Receptionist I and be the welcoming face of our clinic in College Station, Texas! You'll handle patient calls, schedule appointments, and connect callers with the right clinical staff. Your day will be filled with varied front desk tasks, from data entry in our Electronic Management System to handling billing and insurance inquiries. You'll verify insurance details and collect payments. Plus, you'll keep patient accounts up-to-date, scan paperwork and medical records into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, and efficiently manage phone calls. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience.
  • Skilled in the operations of a medical office.
  • Working knowledge of word processing software.
  • Basic computer and typing skills, keyboarding.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree.
  • Two years of general office or personnel experience (including one year in a medical office).
  • Prior EHR experience.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Experience working with individuals and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Handle phone calls from patients who need to schedule appointments, including adding new patients, verifying demographic information and insurance.
  • Route calls to clinical staff and enter phone notes as appropriate.
  • Verify patient demographic information, collect co-pays and past-due balances, work patient waitlist, verify insurance, register patients for portal, check patients in/out.
  • Scan insurance cards and IDs. Assist patients with kiosk.
  • Various billing projects that can include correcting denied claims due to registration errors, contacting patients related to upcoming visits, scheduling patients for wellness visits, inputting demographics for hospital billers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
