The position involves greeting incoming patients with friendly and respectful communication, obtaining and documenting up-to-date demographic information, including insurance and license information. The role requires accepting patient payments and documenting them accordingly, as well as maintaining accurate transaction batches on the credit card machine and balancing the cash drawer. The candidate will assist the billing office with problem resolution as necessary and notify clinical staff when patients arrive via the EMR. Additionally, the position includes making patients aware of any unusual delays in their appointment times and answering incoming telephone calls with a pleasant voice and proper etiquette. Familiarity with necessary forms for patient appointments, including scanning, printing, assembling, and mailing patient packets, is required. The candidate should also be familiar with the computerized appointment scheduling system to schedule patients with all necessary follow-up and ancillary appointments. The ability to prioritize telephone encounters, monitor automated confirmation calls, and update the EMR is essential. Flexibility and willingness to work as a team member, proficiency with Windows-based computer applications, accurate transcribing and data entry skills, and excellent typing and documentation of patient encounters are also important.
