Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and appointment scheduling software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or in Medical Office Administration.
  • Experience with insurance verification and billing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Verify patient information, update records, and ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collect and process patient co-payments and insurance information accurately.
  • Coordinate patient flow by notifying clinical staff of patient arrivals and managing waiting areas.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area and manage office supplies as needed.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry to support clinical staff.
