About The Position
The Medical Practice Assistant at Southeast Dallas Health Center plays a crucial role in providing patient-centered care and operational support to the medical team, ensuring an optimal patient experience. This position is responsible for coordinating activities in clinical areas to facilitate smooth patient flow and assist with various medical office functions. The assistant will engage directly with patients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and confidentiality while adapting work methods to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations. This includes greeting patients and families, addressing inquiries, and keeping them informed about wait times and other relevant circumstances. The role also involves assessing patient experiences post-visit to ensure their needs were met. In addition to direct patient interaction, the Medical Practice Assistant will coordinate clinic activities and facilitate business processes according to established standards. This includes performing pre-visit activities to gather necessary patient information, checking patients into the clinic, verifying insurance coverage, and managing upfront cash collections. The assistant will also assist with scheduling appointments, referrals, and ensuring that all patient encounters are documented accurately and timely, whether on paper or electronically. For virtual care, the assistant will proactively reach out to patients, assist with health system navigation, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve patient access to care. The role requires a commitment to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, including compliance with infection control methods and participation in performance improvement activities. The Medical Practice Assistant may also be required to perform duties at alternate Parkland locations based on operational needs.
