Northeast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities. About the Role: Job Summary To provide medical physics support to radiation oncology. This position will care for patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Required.
  • Completion of physics residency program.
  • PhD and fully board certified in medical physics-Radiation Therapy.
  • Must provide proof that all three (3) Board Exams have been passed.
  • Candidate must have passed the first board exam in Anatomy and the second board exam in Radiation Therapy.
  • Level III Physicist PhD in Medical Physics and board certification in Medical Physics required.
  • PhD in Medical Physics and board certification in Medical Physics-Radiation Therapy required.
  • Six (6) years of work experience required or Completion of a two (2) year Residency + four (4) years of work experience.
  • Computer programming
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills required

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and meets individual and departmental goals and objectives for the year.
  • Assists in establishing measurable goals and objective in accordance with specified system-wide and divisional goals and objectives.
  • Implements a plan to accomplish goals and objectives within the specified time frame.
  • Measures accomplishments and revises plans to reach goals.
  • Reports achievement measurements at least quarterly.
  • Establishes and coordinates policies and systems affecting the department.
  • Assists in maintaining policies and systems in compliance with DNV standards.
  • Assists in maintaining policies and procedures in compliance with State and Federal regulations and recommended national physics protocols.
  • Assists in quality assurance testing in department to ensure a high quality of reliability and safety.
  • Assists in completing yearly equipment calibrations according to department procedures.
  • Assists in completing acceptance testing of equipment before clinical use.
  • Assists in performing weekly/monthly quality assurance testing of new equipment as required by department procedures.
  • Assists in implementing quality assurance testing to assure efficient machine integrity and assists in maintaining patient safety control measures as required by Georgia Dept. of Resources, Federal and JCAHO requirements.
  • Uses proper techniques accurately and on a timely basis for external beam applications.
  • Assists in providing data for initial record and verify chart checks on all patients undergoing team treatment.
  • Assists in clinical support for treatment planning required for quality patient care.
  • Assists in providing treatment aids accurately and on time.
  • Assists in providing patient dissymmetric data to be used in treatment planning.
  • Assists in providing accurate computer/manual calculations.
