About The Position

The Division of Medical Physics, in the Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a full time (1.0 FTE) medical physicist to support the Metro Denver area. The medical physics division provides clinical physics support at the University of Colorado Hospital and 3 UCHealth Radiation Oncology Clinics (Highlands Ranch Hospital, Cherry Creek Medical Center, Longs Peak Medical Center) and is responsible for 7 linear accelerators, a Gamma Knife unit, a HDR unit, 4 CT simulators, and a PET/CT simulator. The department has a fully integrated Eclipse treatment planning system, ARIA, and EPIC and uses an electronic charting system for all clinics. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering or a related field and either be ABR-certified or ABR-eligible with a minimum of 2-years of clinical experience. This position requires a well‐trained individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, strong motivation to provide outstanding clinical physics support, a solid commitment to participate in teaching activities, and a strong interest to work on research and development projects in a dynamic and collegial environment.

Requirements

  • Masters level degree in medical physics, physics, engineering, or related field.
  • Board eligibility in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics.
  • Board certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics
  • DMP or a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering, or a similar field
  • Clinical radiotherapy physics experience including external beam RT, brachytherapy, SRS/SRT, and special treatment procedures.
  • Experience in the areas of IMRT, IGRT, treatment planning, and functional imaging is essential.
  • Good analytical and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and to function as an excellent team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certification in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics
  • 2 years' experience in clinical radiotherapy physics
  • 5 years' experience in clinical radiotherapy physics
  • 2 years' teaching experience
  • Peer-reviewed publication record

Responsibilities

  • General clinical physics coverage and QA as well as support for special procedures, including VMAT/IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT, HDR/LDR, TBI/TSI and SGRT.
