Shift: Medical Physicist – Proton (Full‑Time) Position Highlights Nebraska Medicine is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join us as a Medical Physicist – Proton . This role is ideal for someone with a passion for radiation oncology and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. The position is based at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center – Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE . We are particularly interested in candidates with proton therapy experience , strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Our Mevion FIT Proton Therapy system is expected to begin upright patient treatments around March 2027 . We are recruiting a motivated physicist to join our 3‑FTE proton physics team in 2026 , within a Medical Physics Group that currently includes 10 medical physicists and 4 medical physics residents . This position offers a unique opportunity to help build a new proton therapy program from the ground up. The selected candidate will receive proton‑therapy training, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement clinical workflows, and contribute to the ongoing development of program operations. A faculty appointment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center will be granted. Candidate must have Proton therapy experiences in treatment planning, machine and patient QA. ARIA and Raystation experience preferred and Photon and HDR experience are valuable You will work closely with physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, nurses, and other clinical staff to deliver the region’s best Serious Medicine and Extraordinary Care.
