About The Position

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Stony Brook University's Renaissance School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Medical Physicist for a clinical and academic role at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will provide clinical services, engage in departmental research, and contribute to educational programs. This position requires a commitment to superior patient care and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• PhD Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Medical Physics, physics, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
• For Clinical Associate Professor candidates, a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology and a track record of research excellence is required.
• For Clinical Assistant Professor candidates, must have passed Part One of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and be eligible for ABR board examinations, with a record of research experience.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• ABR board certified.

• Experience with Varian products.
• Experience with SBRT/SRS/SRT planning and HDR procedures.
• Current major research funding.

Responsibilities

• Calibration and maintenance of Radiation Oncology equipment.
• Perform machine acceptance tests and commissioning.
• Patient treatment planning.
• Conduct brachytherapy procedures.
• Ensure quality assurance and compliance.
• Develop and implement new Radiation Therapy procedures, techniques, and instrumentation.
• Engage in research excellence in the field of medical physics and radiation oncology.
• Participate in educational activities within graduate biomedical teaching and medical physics residency programs.
