About The Position

Medical Oncologist Calaway-Young Cancer Center | Valley View Hospital Glenwood Springs, Colorado | Regional Western Slope Practice Valley View Hospital is seeking a Medical Oncologist to join the Calaway-Young Cancer Center, a Commission on Cancer (CoC)–accredited program serving patients across Colorado’s Western Slope. This is a unique opportunity to practice high-quality, relationship-based oncology within an independent, physician-aligned health system committed to access, collaboration, and long-term sustainability. The Opportunity This position represents one of two medical oncologists supporting the Calaway-Young Cancer Center. Both physicians practice general medical oncology, without site-specific disease requirements, allowing for shared coverage, flexibility, and comprehensive care across tumor types while maintaining strong multidisciplinary support. This position supports a broad and meaningful oncology practice, including: Comprehensive medical oncology care across solid tumor disease sites Longitudinal patient management from diagnosis through survivorship Regional care delivery supporting patients throughout the Western Slope Collaboration with partner hospitals, including Memorial Hospital in Craig and Grand River Hospital in Rifle Participation in a regional care model designed to expand access for rural and mountain communities Opportunity to help shape the future growth and outreach of oncology services across the region Care is delivered through a combination of on-site services at Valley View Hospital and coordinated partnerships with regional facilities, supported by strong clinical infrastructure and care coordination. Multidisciplinary Cancer & Breast Care The Calaway-Young Cancer Center operates within a fully integrated, multidisciplinary care model. Medical oncologists collaborate closely with surgical oncology, radiation oncology, breast surgery, nurse navigation, infusion services, and survivorship, with routine participation in a general tumor board to support coordinated, evidence-based care. The program includes in-house plastic and reconstructive surgery, allowing for seamless coordination of combined breast surgical and reconstructive cases. This integrated approach supports timely care planning, enhances patient experience, and enables close collaboration across disciplines for both oncologic and reconstructive decision-making. In addition, the Cancer Center maintains a collaborative partnership with UCHealth hematology physicians, providing access to specialty consultation and shared expertise for complex hematologic conditions. This partnership strengthens clinical depth while allowing patients across the Western Slope to receive high-quality, coordinated cancer care close to home. Why Valley View? Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Medical Oncology (or Hematology/Oncology)
  • Commitment to patient-centered, team-based care
  • Interest in regional collaboration and rural oncology access
  • Strong communication skills and collegial practice style
