About The Position

Performs clerical tasks that support both patients and healthcare providers. Responsible for quality improvement efforts, patient phone calls, community resources, referrals, attribution, emergency room discharges, and coordinating the flow of information to care teams. This staff member is also responsible for recall letter process, and will assist with duties, as needed, to ensure high quality patient care. This is a part-time position at 20 hours a week. Work hours primarily Monday through Friday 8:00am-12:00pm or 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. Expected hours of work may be changed at any time with or without notice.

Requirements

  • Experience in a healthcare or medical office setting
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Proficiency in medical terminology
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Prior experience with insurance verification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical administrative support role
  • Ability to assist patients with socio-economic resources
  • Proficiency in managing patient assignments to healthcare providers
  • Capability to perform ER follow-up calls and coordinate follow-up visits
  • Competence in providing clerical and administrative support for care gaps
  • Communication or interpersonal skills: Medical Office Support must build positive relationships with patients, coworkers/care teams, and healthcare providers by communicating clearly and effectively.
  • Organizational skills: Manage multiple tasks, schedules, and needs efficiently to ensure that healthcare operations run smoothly.
  • Teamwork skills: Work closely with medical staff to coordinate patient care and complete administrative tasks.
  • Problem-solving skills: Medical Office Support should be able to identify and resolve issues, such as scheduling conflicts or insurance discrepancies, quickly and effectively.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous, accurate, and thorough, to prevent errors and ensure high quality, consistent data integrity.
  • Ability to multitask: Ability to manage several competing priorities, projects or patient needs simultaneously, requiring strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attribution- help manage patient assignment to healthcare providers. Patient outreach to align care with correct primary care provider.
  • Care Gaps- clerical and administrative support to various quality improvement efforts including registries, and Eagle Dream.
  • Print and send care gap letters in a timely manner.
  • Assist healthcare providers with various administrative tasks
  • Community Resources- assists patients with socio-economic resources that affect their overall health. Link patients to relevant programs, agencies, or materials.
  • Referrals- Chart2pdf referrals to specialty care as needed.
  • ER follow up call- contact patient after discharge and coordinate follow up visit as needed.
  • Handling tasks, as needed
