This position is for a medical office representative whose responsibility is to register all patients, in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with accreditation standards, federal, state and local regulations, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. The position reports to the Supervisor of Medical Office. Registers and documents all patients in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with accreditation, federal and state regulations, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Assembles patient charts, verifies account information for accuracy and files chart. Schedules patient appointments. Collects and posts payments at the time of office visit. Prepares charge information to be sent for billing. Assists with questions or problems concerning patient accounts. Documents all activities performed on any patient account. Reconciles cash drawer and prepare deposits according to departmental policies and procedures. Answers phone in a professional manner and forwards calls to appropriate personnel. Documenting messages as necessary. Collects and sorts mail delivered to the Medical Office on a daily basis Unlocks clinic waiting room door for patients to enter when clinic hours begin and locks waiting room door at the end of clinic hours May be asked to collect daily deposit and take to hospital cash poster Follows up on 25% of patient visits with phone call and conducts appointment follow-up questionnaire May be asked to send and follow up on patient referrals ensuring that patients who are referred to outside medical practices or for other medical services receive this care and that any correspondence from these is received Prepares Medical Records for distribution upon patient / guarantor request
