About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Office Coordinator/Certified Medical Assistant (MOC/CMA) for our SOM Ped General Administration team. The MOC/CMA will be responsible for patient care and administrative support duties at our Annapolis location along with occasional travel to sister sites as needed. This is a per diem/as needed role offering multi-site support. Key Responsibilities Specific Duties & Responsibilities Administrative and Medical Assistant Support Patient Scheduling (EPIC) - schedule new and follow-up clinic appointments, assist in canceling and rescheduling provider clinics. Pend prescription refills, enter & respond to EPIC messages. Collect insurance information for registration and pre-authorization as appropriate. Initiate courtesy call as requested by provider. Provider administrative support for medical matters on behalf of physicians: voicemail check, referrals, follow-up calls, mailings and updates. Referral to Access Services as required. Review clinic schedules, and make adjustment as appropriate. Act as a liaison for patient, coordinating future consultations, diagnostics tests, or procedures. Facilitate scheduling of lab tests and other procedures. Obtain and record patient vital sign and report assessment findings to practitioner. Ability to recognize and reporting abnormal findings or changes in condition. Maintain and use principles of aseptic techniques and infection control when performing clinical duties and tasks. Appropriately obtain and manage specimen. Order, stock, and maintain exam rooms and clinic areas with standard levels of supplies, medications, linens, nourishments, forms and equipment. Check clinic area and rooms for malfunctioning equipment and general maintenance problems. Ensure clinic rooms are properly cleaned and sanitized prior to and after patient visit. Participation in staff meetings. Identify and use a variety of resources to validate patient care decisions. Other duties as assigned by supervisor and management.

Requirements

  • Must maintain MA and CPR certification/registration during duration of employment in this position
  • High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, such as courses provided through Medix, community colleges, and/or vocational schools.
  • Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g. CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required. If not currently certified/registered, must become certified/ registered within 180 days (6 months) of date of hire. Exam fees will be paid by the department. If a retest is required, associated fees are paid by the employee.
  • Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.
  • Two years of administrative experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
