About The Position

Matrix Providers is hiring a Medical Office Clerk - Pulmonary Medicine to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda, Maryland. Minimum Qualifications: Degree/Education: High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. Basic medical terminology required. Experience : Must have 6 months of experience in medical office setting. Certification : Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course. Legal Authorization to Work in the United States : The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen. Core Duties: Provides clerical/administrative support in wards, clinics, or other departments of a medical treatment facility. Have experience with computers. Have experience and efficiency in word processing and data entry. Demonstrated experience in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, disease processes and treatment modalities to the extent necessary for successful completion of performance requirements. Have experience in understanding, analyzing, and interpreting medical information. Have experience in data collection techniques and medical data collection codes. Have experience in verifying data and correcting errors. Have experience in working with patient medical records. Have experience in gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports. Knowledge of scanning documents into an electronic health information electronic system. Unique Military Health Care Systems/Procedures: Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) Health Artifact and Management Solutions (HAIMS) Medical Health System Genesis (MHS Genesis) Defense Medical Human Resources System-Internet (DMHRSi) Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV) Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist. Participate in clinical staff quality assurance functions and clinic Performance Improvement/Risk Management Programs as prescribed by the Commander. Attend command orientation. Orientations include initial training requirements (e.g., fire, safety, infection control, and family advocacy) and information systems orientation (including MHS Genesis, DMHRSi, etc.). The Government reserves the right to adjust orientation schedules to meet mission and workload requirements. Clinic orientation for the health care worker shall take place during regularly scheduled shifts immediately following the commencement of services. Annual renewal of command directed training requirements including but not limited to: customer relations, disaster preparedness training, sexual harassment, family advocacy, and infection control and blood borne pathogens. Perform necessary administrative duties that include maintaining statistical records of the HCW's workloads operate and manipulate automated systems such as MHS Genesis, participating in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions as prescribed by the commander. Perform administrative duties as directed by supervisor(s) including but not limited to reproducing medical or educational materials, assisting with mailings and phone reminders, preparing documents, and other support functions. Maintain patient medical records, logs, and unit records. Review registration and check-in and check-out procedures for new patients are followed completely and accurately. Assemble patient charts according to an established sequence. Update patient family members immediately upon the receipt of any new patient care service information. Administrative or procedural questions shall be answered immediately if at the time of an in-service appointment and within one hour for telephone inquiries. Questions of a medical nature shall be routed to the appropriate medical personnel immediately. Greet all visitors immediately upon entering the Pulmonary Clinic. Clinical orders shall be entered immediately upon request with order entry and results retrieval time entered accurately each time. File incoming medical records and laboratory results in the appropriate electronic patient chart within 24 hours of receipt. Contact medical care providers (upon request) and forward all incoming calls to providers, support staff for specific areas within the Pulmonary Clinic, Integrated Call Center (IRMAC), or other hospital work center as appropriate. Any necessary follow up calls will be placed within 24 hours of being past the turnaround time and every 48 hours thereafter until the necessary information is received. Input, modify, and/or delete provider templates upon request. Monitor and ensures providers schedules are input into the system and ready for booking. Maintain hospital required clinic rosters. Greet 35-40 new patients daily. Process 15-20 medical records and laboratory results received daily. Contact estimated 15 20 Medical care providers daily and follow up calls will be placed until the necessary information is received. Historically the administrative support service for the Pulmonary Department has been supported by workstation. Schedule appointments in the Pulmonary Clinic, Pulmonary Function Lab, and Bronchoscopy Suite per administrative workflows. Hours of Performance: Medical Office Clerk Pulmonary Medicine services are required Monday through Friday between the hours of 0730 and 1630. Mission Essential: This position is classified as mission essential . Your position is essential to maintaining critical operations and functions, especially during emergencies or disruptions. Closures: During a planned closure of the facility due to training, holiday the employee will be compensated only for the hours the health care worker (HCW) provided services . During an unplanned closure due to unusual compelling circumstances (e.g., natural disasters, military emergencies, severe weather, etc.), the employee will be compensated only for the hours the health care worker (HCW) provided services . #INDKF
