Harbor is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to join our Toledo team! The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direction of medical leadership, and/or a licensed health care professional. Position is full-time, 1st shift.

  • Assists provider with patient care.
  • Provides Patient/Family education.
  • Assist patients with medication prescriptions and testing procedures as directed by providers.
  • May assume responsibilities of determining and responding to the needs of patients and visitors when they contact the practice either by phone or in person.
  • May be required to fill in for front desk staff if needed.
  • Answers and/or triages patient phone calls.
  • Coordinates scheduling of patients' appointments.
  • Assists clinical staff and/or providers as needed.
  • Provides quality and timely support to both internal and external customers and strives for customer satisfaction.
  • Documents in a clear, efficient, and effective manner, in conjunction with leadership and Harbor guidelines.
  • Attends meetings as appropriate and serves on office committees as assigned.
  • Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates continued growth.
  • In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
  • May float to other locations to accommodate client or agency need.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in Mental Health preferred.
  • Must be able to perform clinical and clerical duties as needed.
  • Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a strong commitment towards achieving customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in data entry and be able to navigate through Microsoft Windows based applications.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people and be a team player.
  • When applicable, non-licensed staff will be required to complete 20 hours of CEUs every 24 months.
  • BLS and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
