About The Position

The Medical Office Assistant promotes a professional patient-centered practice image by efficiently performing a variety of business and clerical tasks to facilitate the smooth flow of patients and work throughout the medical office. Key duties include accurately registering patients, managing telephone communications, effectively scheduling appointments, and preparing electronic health records to ensure all necessary reports and records are available for patient visits. The role also involves collecting payments and co-payments, and entering charges to maximize payment reimbursement for services, all while utilizing a team-based approach.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience working in healthcare performing administrative duties using an electronic health record system (EHR), such as but not limited to working with ICD & CPT codes and scheduling.
  • OR two years’ experience in an Administrative Assistant or Customer Service position.
  • OR completion of successful internship with accredited Medical Office Assistant Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and a clear understanding of basic ICD and CPT codes.
  • Formal technical or vocational education in Healthcare Management / coding.
  • Medical Coding and or Insurance Billing experience.
