About The Position

Are you an organized and compassionate professional looking to make a meaningful impact in healthcare? Arnot Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Office Assistant to join our Watkins Glen Primary Care office on the Arnot Medical Services team. This position plays a vital role in providing essential administrative and patient care support, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients and providers. Your Schedule: Monday through Friday Day Shift, 8AM - 5PM 40 hours per week As a Medical Office Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of medical office support services, including: Front Desk & Patient Check-In: Prepare daily schedules, answer phone calls, update patient demographics, and distribute mail. Patient Check-Out & Scheduling: Make follow-up appointments, prepare test orders, obtain prior authorizations, and provide patient instructions. Billing & Documentation: Verify demographic and insurance information, track encounters, and assist with billing processes. Patient Support: Take vitals, perform phlebotomy (if qualified), assist with minor procedures, and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization. Care Team Participation: Work closely with the care team to support patient education, medication management, and preventative care coordination. Medical Record Maintenance: Transcribe notes, scan and file documents, and process medical record requests according to protocol. Office & Safety Compliance: Maintain professional behavior, ensure OSHA compliance, and participate in training programs to support patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of medical office experience preferred; knowledge of medical coding is a plus.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong multitasking ability, excellent communication, and a patient-focused approach to care.
