About The Position

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The position involves providing administrative coverage at the front desk of the Clinic, including monitoring the clinic appointment line, scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, and correction systems, answering multiline telephones, taking payments from clients for clinical services, completing client registration and documentation, scheduling interpreters for clients, and retrieving billing charges. The role is essential for the constant and efficient operations of the physician medical office, which includes duties such as scheduling, patient registration, telephone triage, medical records, billing, and collections. The position also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation, and referrals management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution.
  • EMT or Paramedic certification, or a Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative coverage at the front desk of the Clinic.
  • Monitor the clinic appointment line and schedule appointments for clients.
  • Answer multiline telephones and take payments from clients for clinical services.
  • Complete client registration and documentation.
  • Schedule interpreters for clients and retrieve billing charges.
  • Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation processes.
  • Manage patient identification, check in/out, charge posting, and cash management.
  • Handle patient appointment scheduling and customer service.
  • Distribute messages and manage ancillary scheduling and preparation.
  • Oversee referrals management.
